A new way of doing things

I have been wanting to make my own Laundry Soap for a while now.
I just bought all the ingredients and finally did it!

Here is the recipe I used. I found it here.

Water

1 bar grated Fels Naptha soap

5 gallon bucket

1 cup washing soda (Again, Arm and Hammer)

1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax

4 1/2 gallons water
First, I gathered all of my ingredients.
(Total cost: $10.44 at Smith's grocery store. Everything except for the Fels Naptha will last a really long time!)

I got my bucket at Home Depot.

Grated my Fels Naptha.

Put it in my frying pan and covered it with water to melt the soap.

I measured out 1 cup each of the borax and washing soda.

Once the soap was melted, I put everything in the 5 gallon bucket, which was already filled with about 4 1/2 gallons of hot water.

I am still testing it out, but so far, so good!

  1. Very interesting, wondering why you would want to make your own soap?? Does it take long?
