Sledding
On the last day of January, we needed some fun. The last week of January was pretty miserable. Work and school had been keeping us at desks and computers, driving in the bad weather was stressful and scary everyday.
So, we picked up the boys as soon as we got home and went on a search to find the perfect hill for the boys to go down. The boys, especially Mace, were so excited. It was so much fun to watched Mace dive down the hills, head first, with the biggest smile on his face. I couldn't believe how big he seemed, as he pulled the sled all by himself up the hill. My little boy is getting so grown up.
Cruz was trying so hard to have fun, but he was not enjoying it. Mace begged to have Cruz ride down the hill with him. We let him, but soon regretted it as Cruz fell off the sled. Tyler took Cruz on a ride on flat ground to try to help him enjoy our outing a little more, and then decided to hold Cruz on his lap and ride down the hill. Unfortunately, Cruz fell off the sled AGAIN!! So, I took my turn pulling Cruz around to make him smile. He loved watching a dog off in the distance. Mace now wanted to pull Cruz up the hill. Guess what happened? Cruz fell. We felt so bad. Maybe next year he will enjoy sledding a little more.
This picture is pretty good at showing Cruz's feeling about sledding.
And this one is good at showing how much fun Mace was having.
Las Vegas/St. George/Zions over Martin Luther King weekend
Because Tyler has every other Friday off and I don't have classes on Fridays, we had a four day weekend in January over Martin Luther King weekend. We decided to get out of the gross smog in the valley and head to Las Vegas and St. George.
We woke the kids up around 5:00 in the morning and got on the road. The kids did great and fell back asleep and slept almost the whole way to Las Vegas.
It was such a fun little trip. We hung out in Vegas till Saturday afternoon, except for Friday afternoon, we took a little drive to the Hoover Dam. Then, we headed to St. George and stayed with my cousin Kourtney. On Monday, we went to Zion National Park. It was a free day because of the holiday. It wasn't very busy. It was fun, but a lot of the trails were closed. We attempted two different hikes (Weeping Rock and the Lower Emerald Pool), but both were closed at some point on the trail. It was still really fun and it was really cool to see icicles frozen to the walls.
