Going to the Zoo . . . Again!

We sure love the zoo! It is really fun to go in the winter time because it isn't very crowded and the animals are more active. The only down side it that it is cold, but oh well! We have definitely made our membership worth having!

Mace and Grandpa Roy

Balance

One of our neighbors showed Tyler this cool little balancing act.

Mace loved it.

Now, Cruz loves it!

And Mace is afraid. Silly kid!

Playing in the Rain

Last week, the boys and I got home in the middle of a rain storm. I am not sure when Mace learned about splashing in puddles, but that is what he wanted to do. Cruz had fallen asleep in the car, so Mace and I ran from puddle to puddle jumping and splashing as much as possible. By the end, we were both soaked! It gave us a good reason to put on some comfy clothes and enjoy a treat together.

The puddle jumping only lasted for a few minutes, but it was super fun.
I am really excited for the next time it rains!

Reese's Basketball Game

On Saturday we went to Lyndsay's little brother's basketball game.  It was fun to watch him play.

We laughed a little every time he ran.  He usually had his head down and sprinted to the left corner of the key.  We wonder if someone told him that is where he should run to.

The score was 12 to 36.  We won't tell you who won.  This was their highest scoring game though.

William Cowan and Cruz Cowan.

Green Bed

This is about a month old, but oh well!

Towards the end of December, Mace finally figured out how to get out of his crib. For a few nights, we left the side rail down and put a crash pad right next to his crib. We figured that was the safest thing to do, since we knew he would be getting out. Those nights were awful, because he simply wouldn't stay in his bed.

We bought Mace some awesome green sheets and tried to make the "new, big bed" thing exciting. He really likes the idea of the bed, but we are still trying to figure out how to get him to stay in his bed.

Green is Mace's favorite color.

This was taken on his first night in his new bed!

Cats and Cocoa

Last weekend we went with Lyndsay's family to the zoo for a "Cats and Cocoa" event. They did a quick training with one of the tiger and passed out hot chocolate. It was really cool to see these cats in the winter. They were pretty active. For cats, we saw tigers, a snow leopard and a mountain lion.

We saw several other animals, too.

Who is the dominant male?

Brothers

One of my favorite things about having two kids is watching them play together.
Mace and Cruz are learning to play together.
It is really fun to see Mace trying to include his brother.

Mace wanted to take Cruz on a horsey ride. He was perfectly content with Cruz pulling on his hair. Cruz seemed to be enjoying the ride. The whole time Mace was giving Cruz a ride, he said, "Mooo!" Ha ha Even though, we would correct him, he continued to moo!

Twin Lakes Pass

We finally got some snow and were able to go backcountry skiing together.  We went up to Twin Lakes Pass from Alta.

Tyler wanted to show off to Lyndsay by showing her his mad skills at taking off his skins without removing his skis (something that took him a couple years to learn)

Lyndsay was able to do it first try

Lyndsay sandbagged the whole way up, saying "I'm scared - I don't think I can ski down this" and then tore it up on the way down.

Monster Truck Diaper Box

Mace climbed in one of Mace's diaper boxes the other day and started calling it his monster truck.  Before long, we were pushing him and Cruz throughout our house in it.

Mace had a few crashes

Mace could go about 15-20 feet with a good push.

After watching for a while, Cruz wanted to be just like his brother

And Mace wanted to be just like his parents.  (If you look close, you can see the fear in Cruz's eyes)
