Pictures of the Boys

In September, I was able to win a free mini photo session on Facebook from a girl trying to get her photography business up and running. I think they turned out pretty cute!!

Overall, I am happy with the pictures, but I don't think it was the best photo shoot experience. The photographer disciplined Mace, upsetting me and changed the whole mood of the photo shoot. (It really is one of my biggest pet peeves when people don't let me be the parent! With family and friends, I don't care that much when one of them asks my child to stop doing something. When a stranger disciplines my kids, in front of me, I get really bugged. I am sure she had good intentions, I just wished she would have waited a moment instead of stepping in my spot. Maybe I got so bugged because she was more harsh that what I think she needed to be and because what happened was only an accident. [Mace tripped Cruz.]  It sure left me in an awkward position. Oh well.)
The other thing I didn't like was that she took over a month and a half to get my pictures back to me. I had to ask her for them, and then she lied to me when she replied. Again, oh well. I got my pictures and that is what matters.
It's a good thing I have an awesome photographer cousin!
I still need to post our family pictures that my cousin took at the beginning of September, but for now, you can go to her blog and see them for yourself here: http://318photography.com/nicholson-family-southern-utah-family-photographer-2/

Recent Funnies

Mace and Cruz are such great kids. We really are lucky to be their parents!

We had just finished reading bedtime stories when I asked Mace if he was ready to go to bed. He said "I am not very happy." (We figured out that it was because he wanted to keep reading bedtime stories. He really is so cute when he talks about his emotions.)

Tyler and I were sitting on the couch next to each other and Mace came and sat between us. He looked at Tyler and said "You're squishing me! Soot! (scoot!) It was mostly just funny because we were already sitting when Mace decided to sit with us and then he got mad at Tyler for being in his way!

I was driving home from picking the kids us at daycare. I asked if we should sing a song. Mace told me to sing the wheels on the bus song. When I started singing, Mace stopped me and said, "Mommy that hurts me!" So, I apologized and asked Cruz if I was hurting him. He replied "No." It was so cute.

Cruz uses the word 'no' for so many things now. He says it to describe no, nose, snow and I am sure there are more. He says it a lot.

Mace and I were sharing some macho nachos. We each had our own plate and Mace decided that we should race to see who could finish their plate first. I said, "I"m almost done; I'm going to win!" Mace decided that it wouldn't be fair if I won, so he quickly put the rest of his nachos on my plate and yelled. "I WON!!"

Mace got a new monkey and I was asking him if he knew what monkey started with. He didn't know, so I was trying to give him a clue by asking what his name started with. I said, "What does Mace start with?" Mace said, "Quit talking about ME!"

We were playing 'I spy' in the car. I said, "I spy a temple." Mace told me that I was doing it wrong and that you are suppose to say a color. So I tried saying "I spy something white." I guess he just didn't want to find the temple, because I was still doing it wrong. As soon as I moved on, and said some other color I spied, Mace told me I was doing a good job and that is right.

If Cruz ever does something that hurts me and I say "Ouch," he will quickly give me a hug and a kiss. I love that he understands how to say sorry, even if he doesn't know how to say it yet.

Maced asked Tyler what he does when he is at work. Tyler told him that he was an engineer. Mace excitedly said, "My friend Karson was an engine turtle (teenage mutant ninja turtle) for Halloween, is that what you are?"

Whenever you ask Cruz to give you a high five, he takes a second to stare at your hand before going in for the five. It is so cute to watch him concentrate, while doing his little wind-up.

Cruz had given me a high five and then wrapped my hand into a fist. He then gave me 'bones' several times. I think he likes bones better!

The kids and I parked close to an elementary school to be able to see several school buses. As soon as they came into view, Mace started yelling, "BUS!!!" And counting them as they pulled away. Cruz got just as excited and started yelling "BA!" as well. It is always cute to see Cruz say a new word. Now, whenever he sees a bus, he yells "BA!" He always has the most excited smile, too!

While we were watching the school kids get on the buses and walk down the sidewalks, Mace burst up laughing and said, "You funny big kid, you forgot your backpack!" He thought it was the funniest thing and talked about it all evening.

When Mace is told something he doesn't like, he says, "I don't like that. You are making me sad. (Or mad)" Sometimes, it is really hard to not laugh, because he is just so cute.

Mace was telling us a story and kept saying that he 'winned.' I tried to correct him and told him to say 'won' instead. I told him that saying winned is a silly word and so we should say won instead. He told me that won was a silly word and that he liked winned. He kept telling his story and I kept correcting him. I said, "Mace, you have to say won." He said, "No Mom. Won is silly, right Daddy?" Tyler's response, "Welcome to the English language buddy.

A not so funny:
Mace was mad at me the other night. He looked at me and said, "I don't like you anymore. I don't love you either and you are a mean mommy." It actually made me sad, and I think Mace saw that. He quickly apologized and said he really did love me.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, we pulled our Christmas tree out of the basement storage and started setting it up. The boys were so excited. We turned on some Christmas music to set the mood!

Mace helped me put the tree stand together, put the tree together and plug in the lights. He was so excited to see the lights and to start putting ornaments on the tree. He found a Santa hat and wore it the whole time we were decorating. Cruz wasn't too happy with the tree. I could be because we were putting the ornaments in the  wrong spot or because we kept telling him "no" every time he would rip an ornament off the tree. Who knows, but he was grumpy!

It was so cute to watch Mace focus and try really hard to do a good job in decorating the tree.

This is my favorite spot on the tree (and hopefully Cruz will allow it to stay in place!) Mace hung all these ornaments in the same spot. He was so proud of himself! I love it!!

We really tried hard to get Cruz in the Christmas spirit!

The next day, we went to Draper Park for their tree lighting ceremony. We missed the actual lighting, thanks to me getting home later than expected, but we still got to see Santa and get a few cookies. Mace told Santa that he wants a dinosaur, a book and a Lightening McQueen shirt. Santa gave the kids a coloring book. It is the end of the week now, and they still love carrying them around.

When we got home from the park, Cruz ripped the stockings off the shelf. Mace put them on and had a lot of fun.

This was the best shot we could get of Cruz. He was grumpy again! It was either bed time or Cruz is a Scrooge! haha

Airborne in Draper and then an ice cream Treat

Our friends, John and Corianne were in town Thanksgiving weekend. We decided to hang out and to do something fun! We went to Airborne and had a blast! And the prices weren't too bad either! There was a kid area, that both Mace and Cruz loved.

There was a big foam pit that the kids loved being thrown into.

Tyler and John decided to pay for a half hour jump session.
The rest of the pictures are from my phone:
Tyler and John racing. Tyler won (but he didn't follow the rules!)

Mace got his shirt wet and refused to wear it. I felt like someone was going to tell us that he had to put it back on, but we got away with him being shirt-less.

This area was SUPER bouncy. They only allow a certain number of jumpers in at a time.

Tyler would bounce once and go flying!

Afterwards, we tried out a new ice cream place in Draper. It is called Subzero. They make the ice cream right in front of you. It literally starts as cream. Tyler and I shared. We had the make peach raspberry!

After putting everything in a bowl, they use liquid nitrogen to freeze it.

Then, they mix it a little more.

The final product- delicious!!

Anyone want to go get some ice cream? I can't wait to go back! (I think it may have been cooler than Cold Stone :))

Ouch!

A few weeks ago, this happened while I was at school. Tyler called me and told me that Cruz was trying to be like his big brother, but fell over and hit his head on the corner of one of our speakers. Tyler was about to take Cruz to the Emergency Department, but decided to keep an eye on it for a bit. He called his mom, and went to her house. They cleaned it up and used some steri-strips to hold the cut together. I guess it bled a lot at first, but stopped soon after. I took the strips off the next day, but I don't think Cruz has been bothered by it too much at all. It has been about three weeks, and it looks almost completely healed!

Turkey Handprints

The boys enjoyed making their spider hand prints and ghost foot prints for Halloween so much, that we decided to make some turkey hand prints for Thanksgiving!

Mace went through our paint stash and found the best colors.

Cruz has got the funniest cheesy grins. Try to not laugh when looking at this picture!

Thank goodness I took a pic with my phone of these cute hands! Cruz is on bottom and Mace on top.

Cruz's turn!

Afterward, I gave the boys a bath. We only had one clean towel, so the boys shared. They thought it was hilarious!

Bike ride to the Park

We needed to get out of the house, so before the sun went down, we rode to the park in our neighborhood. I know I am biased, but I really think my kids are the cutest kids in the world!

Our park is super lame, but that's okay. We still had fun!
