Cute kids and the things they say

While sitting on Tyler's chest, Mace said, "I can tell you have a big nose!" (I laugh every time!)

We have moved Mace and Cruz in the same room. One night after getting the kids to bed, I heard Mace crying. I rushed in their room, with hopes to calm Mace before he woke up Cruz. I asked him what was wrong and he told me their was monster in his room. I tried to reassure him that their wasn't a monster, but he insisted and told me he could hear it. So, I listened for a second. Then I put two and two together, Cruz was gently snoring. Once I told Mace that Cruz was the monster and that he was snoring, Mace laughed, calmed down and went to sleep.

On 10/25 we woke up to the first snow fall in the valley. I excitedly told Mace to look out the window. He looked and said, "Mom, I think it turned to winter. Can we go skiing now?"

One morning, while snuggling both boys in our bed, I said, "Who wants to get up?" Mace says, "Not me. I want to snuggle forever! (He still says forever: for eber- so cute!)

I have been singing the song I like to eat apple and bananas, with all the different vowel versions. Mace usually laughs and tells me that I am singing it wrong. Last night, I sang it and Mace said, "Mom, when you sing that song, it makes my ears sad."

Every morning, in an attempt to get Mace to go to the bathroom, Tyler or I will say "Who wants to go to the bathroom first? (Mace is super competitive, so we use that to our advantage when we want him to do something. ;)) Well, Cruz is starting to talk a bunch. It made me laugh as he answered with a, "MMmm" (almost like he was going to say ME!) and then I could see him rethink his answer before he smiled and said, "No, no!" and gave me a super cheesy grin!

Cruz has figured out how to give kisses. It is the funniest thing as he will almost maul you to death with kisses. And, I do have to say, he knows his stuff! He gives pretty good little kisses.

One morning, Mace wanted a bowl of cereal. As he was finishing up his cereal, I asked if he wanted more or if he was done. He said he was done, so I asked if he wanted anything else. I offered bread with jam or some apple sauce. He said, "No Mommy, I just want some pickles!"

This is an old one (from June- found it on my facebook wall) but it is funny, so it gets to be included.
Me- Mace, don't kick your bother!
Mace- I didn't kick him. I pushed him with my foot.

I can't remember this one exactly, but we were in the car and something was bothering Mace (could have been my singing, Cruz, Tyler's driving... who knows??) He said, "I don't like that. It makes me angry and sad." He has been learning about emotions this week at preschool.

Cruz found a bottle of lotion (From who knows where), brought it to Tyler and then laid down in front of him. Think he wanted a back massage??

Mace burped really loud and then said, "Excuse me, I farted!" (What??)

Mace was talking to Tyler and said, "Daddy, you are being so good. That means you don't have to go on a time out. Thanks so much for being so good. That makes me really happy and I love you so eber (forever).

I was driving with Mace. He was being so quiet and good. Randomly, he said, "Mommy, I love you so much. You are a good mommy and I will love you so eber (forever)."

Cruz's new words: (most, he will only say on command and they are hard to understand, but that's okay! We love hearing him talk!!)

Cute things about Mace and Cruz

MACE
Mace was saying his prayers right before bedtime. He said, "Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for Our family. Thank you for Daddy. Thank you for Tyler. Thank you for Mace Tyler Nicholson. Please bless the food. Jesus Christ. Amen.

We were running together as a family. Cruz started crying. We tried calming him down, but that didn't seem to help. We weren't close to home, so in an effort to help Cruz, I asked Mace to sing him a song. Mace sang 'I am a Child of God' to him. It was really sweet to see Mace being a good big brother. And, thankfully, it calmed Cruz down.

Another time that Cruz was being sad, I asked Mace if he would play with Cruz to make him happy. (We could tell that, that was why Cruz was upset. He wanted his big brother to pay attention to him.) This was how our conversation went:
Me- "Mace, can you please play with Cruz? I think he wants you."
Mace- "I can't, I'm busy."
Me- "Oh, what are you so busy doing?"
Mace- "Nothing."
Me- "Well, if you aren't doing anything, can you please play with him?"
Mace- "No, I can't. I'm really busy."

During another night time prayer, Mace said, "Thank you for our family. Please bless we can read books. Please bless Lexe. Thank you for our food. Please bless us to dream. (What else Mommy? Me- Please bless us to be happy) Please bless us to be happy and to cry. Bless us to go to Grandpa Roy's house.

We were driving and Mace wanted the window's down. We told Mace he couldn't have the windows down because it was too cold outside. A while later, Cruz started whining a little. Mace said, "Cruz, we can't have our window down, because it is too cold." Cruz stopped crying and simply said, "Oh." We laughed because it was really cute.

Another prayer. He is just so cute at saying them. "Please bless us to have more popcorn and more chocolate milk. Thank you we can eat. We love you, Jesus Christ. Amen.

CRUZ
Cruz loves to play with blankets lately. He hides under any blanket. He seems to understand the game of hide and seek better than Mace does. He stays hidden for quite a while! (Mace usually hides and when we ask where he could be, he usually says, "Here I am!" We have tried to teach him that he has to stay quiet, but it has yet to be understood!)

Cruz was playing with an outlet on the wall. I sternly said, "Cruz! NO, NO!!" He simply turned around and repeated me, saying "NO, NO!!" I had no idea he could say the word no.

Cruz has learned to say "Shhh!" It is so funny, because he always uses it appropriately.

Cruz's vocabulary:
Mama
Dada
No
Shhh
Hi
Hey
Raawwr (Being a monster, dragon, mean guy.... Whatever Mace and Cruz choose)

Popcorn!

Today at church, Mace had popcorn for their snack time. (It made the halls smell heavenly and the whiffs that kept coming in through the relief society door made me crave it!) Mace told me all about his popcorn on the way home and asked if we could make more. I happily agreed.

It is so much fun watching Mace get so excited about something.

Cruz was pretty excited too!

nom nom nom

Why use fingers, when you can skip that step and just use your mouth?

Cruz LOVES hiding, so we played hide and seek/peek-a-boo!

Where's Cruz?

Mace was being loud. Cruz's response? "Shhhh!"

Remember this? He figured out how to wink in the other eye!

Silly, cute faces. How could you not love these two?

St. George Marathon

We ran in the St. George Marathon last weekend. It was great. We ran with Tyler's brother, Ben and my cousins, Meghan and Chase. Tyler and Ben ran together for a big portion of the race. Meghan and I ran together for the entire race. Poor Chase, he ran alone.

Ben 3:31:02

Chase 4:29:54

Lyndsay 5:24:09

Meghan 5:24: 58

Tyler 3:31:48 (If he were Paul Ryan, he would say that he ran it in 2:33:33)

Overall, it was a great experience. The last time we did a marathon (which was also in St. George) I swore I would never run a marathon again. Last time, we didn't train, it was raining, there was a headwind, it was super cold and we were in a lot of pain. This time, we trained, the weather was perfect, and we were only in a little pain compared to four years ago. I am not ready to start training for another marathon, but I know we will do more in the future (and I can't wait!)

Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures while on this trip. Luckily, my cousin Kourtney took some at the race and some family pictures!

Sunday Afternoon up Little Cottonwood

Rocky Mountain Raceways

Mace loves Rocky Mountain Raceways.  Ever since this day a couple weeks ago, Mace has asked us to tell him a story every night about going to the raceways.  The story is always the same - He goes to see the race cars with Cruz and his cousin Brenner.  The red car always wins (his current favorite color).
