Cardiff Peak

Who would have thought that after such a crappy snow year, we would have awesome snow in April?  Kyle, Greg, and I went up for a couple laps on some of the best snow we have had all year.

Here is some guy that skied down before us.

I think this is my favorite picture of Greg

I won't tell you who this is.

The guys that went down before us sent some pretty huge sluffs down the hill

Kyle made perfect tracks down the hill

This is what happens when you wear 166 length skis and aren't used to it.

Look at how much fun Kyle was having!

Bell's Canyon Reservoir

We went up to Bell's Canyon Reservoir with my parents earlier in the week.  Mace loved throwing rocks into the water.

Mace refused to have anyone but Grandma hold his hand on the way down.

Cruz found a pen

You can't turn your back on this kid for a second!

Running to Ensign Peak

Lyndsay is training for a half marathon.
For part of her training, we ran up to Ensign Peak.

It is a cool view from the top.

White Pine after work

Last week I went skiing up to White Pine after work.  The slushy snow stuck to my skis when I got near the lake and I had to boot it to the lake.  I couldn't believe that I was the only one up there - besides snow sticking to my skins, it was awesome.

I forgot to bring some stuff, so instead of a thermal layer under my coat, I wore my button up work shirt.  I forgot a hat and goggles too.

Just because

We always post the big things, and I think it is important to remember the little things too, so this post is just so we can remember a fun bathtub time.

These two little bums make me so happy!

It is so hard to take a picture of Mace holding still and smiling. He was yelling cheese and wiggling all over the bathroom when I took this picture.

I love Cruz's thunder thighs. Seriously, who wouldn't? He is such a sweet baby!

I didn't realize that my camera was on a funny setting, so these pictures aren't super clear, but I still like the way they turned out.

I earned some cool mom points by turning the water green and adding bubbles. Mace was so excited, he didn't dare get in the water! He and Cruz just stared at it. I really did have to talk Mace into getting in the tub. Now, he always wants us to color the water. He loves to help drop the food coloring in the tub. Cruz's new favorite thing to do is stand up, by holding on to everything. He still isn't crawling, but that's okay. He had figured out how to scoot on his bum and his reach is pretty unbelievably long. We are working on crawling, but he might just walk first. :)

Here is a picture once I realized it was on a funny setting. You can see the green water!

Family Trip Day 7

On the last day of our trip, we went to the National Zoo. It was really cool, because you can just walk in. You don't have to pay!

Our kids were both asleep!

Cheetah

Giselle

Emu

Panda. This guy was funny. He walked up to the top of the hill and rolled down on his back.

Cute Macers

Cute Cruzers

I don't even know what this thing is! (Kind of ugly though!)

Crocodile- or an alligator if your name is Mace.

Orangutan

Little Gorilla

Lions

After the zoo, we went to the Arlington Cemetery. It was a neat experience to walk past so many graves. It really was beautiful to see so many tombstones. I tried to find out how many people are buried there, but didn't have a lot of luck. The best answer I found was that there are over 400,000 people there.

John F. Kennedy's grave, along with his wife and two of their children. You can also see the eternal flame.

We saw The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This was very touching. There is a soldier guarding it at all times. We were even lucky enough to see the changing of the guard, right before they closed. It was very neat.

I was a bit nervous about taking the kids with us. Luckily, they were great and acted very appropriately. As we were leaving, Cruz started acting a bit restless. I picked up a leaf to try and entertain him with it. He only wanted to eat it, and if we tried to take it away, he cried. So, he ate a leaf. Silly baby.

After the cemetery, we were to the National Archives Building in D.C. We weren't there very long, but we did get to see the Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights, and the Constitution. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures while we were there. Everything is really faded, but it was really neat to see the documents, especially after going to Philadelphia to Independence Hall. It made us feel really grateful to be Americans. We are so lucky to live in America!

We flew home the next morning and that ended our trip. We loved every minute of it. We had a blast doing something that we have always wanted to do. The kids were pretty good overall, and we really enjoyed the time together as a family. We learned a lot about traveling with kids. We are grateful we were able to go. Someday, Tyler and I want to go again.
